Position Summary
Principal firmware development engineer for the development of sensor and RFID based products, including SIP messaging integration with future aggregation platforms. Provide development in C and in web technologies running in Linux on an ARM processor and also PIC processor development. Develop web UI in HTML/JavaScript for embedded web server. Develop security/authentication scheme which integrates with corporate support servers. Develop and maintain QA test harnesses and firmware build processes.

Experience and Education
  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline - MS is preferred
  • 5+ years prior experience with firmware and hardware driver development

Technology Skills and Strengths
  • Understanding of Linux, Windows, Ethernet protocols, SNMP, TCP/IP, DHCP, ARM processors, UART, SPI bus, and RFID protocols
  • Ability to write HTML, JavaScript, JQuery, and AJAX related code to support embedded web server UI as well as XML SOAP and REST web services client code, in C
  • Understanding of common security, authentication, and encryption libraries to implement product level device security
  • Knowledge of Java or other high level language on PC to develop test and QA harnesses, and an understanding of common development environments like eclipse with SVN, and automated build environments
  • Solid understanding of 24x7 high availability mission-critical enterprise and embedded application infrastructure design, architecture, and development
  • General understanding of RF hardware design tradeoffs and performance issues. Experience with hardware development and operation
  • Ability to write self-checking code which automatically detects and logs errors
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently on parallel efforts (customer issues, prototyping/architecture, implementation, etc.)
  • Ability to write code to run on processors with or without an OS, both and debug projects both large and small
  • Ability to work independently and in small teams depending on tasking
  • Ability to understand internal customer requirements, external technology trends, competition, and business environments as they relate to product strategy
  • Ability to Document firmware and software technical specifications to build team knowledge
