Surgical Technologies, the fastest growing business within Medtronic, develops products and procedural solutions for surgical applications that include: neuro/spine, cranial and orthopedics; ear, nose and throat; and surgical oncology. We design, develop, manufacture and support healthcare providers with advanced surgical navigation and imaging solutions, powered surgical tools and systems, intraoperative nerve monitoring devices, advanced energy-based devices for hemostatic sealing and tissue dissection, and implantable devices for hydrocephalus management.
This position will play a critical role in partnering with the functional people leaders to grow and develop talent and technical capabilities in the business. As a member of the Medtronic HR Team, ensures organizational effectiveness through proper alignment of people, processes, structure and culture with business strategies. Participate in the communication and implementation of business strategies and objectives, and implement change initiatives designed to support those goals. Continuously assess and monitor the organization’s progress toward attaining short- and long-term objectives, and design and implement programs and processes that further those goals.
Performance Management: In concert with HR leadership, design and implement performance management processes and practices that support the advancement of individual and organizational capabilities. Communicate performance management strategies, and train leadership and employees on processes and practices. Serve as a coach to support managers in individual performance improvement efforts, as well as overall unit performance management.
Employee Relations: working with your clients, establish an environment that encourages maximum individual and team effectiveness. Provide advice and counsel to managers and employees on matters of conflict resolution and other employee relations issues. Assist in the identification of internal or external programs and resources to address individual or organizational employee relations issues. Counsel managers and employees consistent with Medtronic policies/practices, legal considerations, etc.
Talent Management: Facilitate discussions relating to the effective use and deployment of human resources—both strategically and tactically--to achieve business objectives. Drive efforts in talent management, including annual ranking and organization review processes. Ensure the assessment of short and long-term individual and organizational development needs, and identify programs and processes to address those needs. Design programs to effectively balance individual needs/desires with the needs of the business.
Talent Acquisition: Provide leadership in establishing a strategic talent mindset among all hiring managers within your client groups. To this end and in conjunction with Talent Acquisition partners, proactively assist hiring managers in establishing a robust, diverse bench of candidates by interviewing and recommending talent whose skills and competencies reflect the hiring profile for applicable positions. Assist management in strategically assessing their talent needs, and develop plans that allow those needs to be met. Ensure that processes are in place to orient and train new hires/transfers so as to accelerate their individual effectiveness, productivity and integration into the business.
Compensation/Rewards: In partnership with Corporate Compensation group, assist in the establishment of motivational compensation programs by considering business insight and feedback. Advise and counsel management in the effective use of rewards and recognition to support the attainment of business objectives. Serve as a key resource in the development and implementation of an effective total rewards communication strategy.
HR Project Management: In partnership with other HR Team members, work to establish HR project plans, create deliverables and drive results in support of quarterly and annual departmental goals and objectives. Ensure that all HR projects are delivered on-time and on-budget with high quality results.
B.A./B.S. in business or similar field
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
7+ Years of experience in HR with Bachelors
5 Years of experience in HR with Masters
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
Experience with HR laws and regulations are required.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office software and previous experience in HRIS and recruiting software.
Must have strong analytical skills.
Good interpersonal and organizational skills;
Proactive problem solver and action oriented required;
Must be able to maintain high degree of confidentiality;
Must be able to establish credibility quickly and operate with the highest integrity.
Master’s degree is preferred.
PHR/SPHR Certificate preferred.

Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing change initiatives.
