Huawei Device has an exciting new opportunity for a Principal Hardware Platform Design Engineer to join our Innovation team in our San Diego office!
Huawei Hardware Platform team is looking for experience and creative Principal /Sr. Staff engineers to lead the research and developed of next generation solution for high volume Smartphone, Tablets and Data cards. The ideal candidate must have strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and experience working with international companies.
Candidate will be responsible for design and development of new hardware platforms solutions for future products. Lead the research of emerging technologies in North America for wireless consumer electronics including Touch IC, Sensors applications, Wi-Fi/BT/NFC, 2G/3G/4G modem, application processors, 3D Graphics, and digital Audio. Responsibilities include hardware architecture design, board level digital/power/analog circuit design, schematic capture, PCB layout supervision, board fabrication support, hardware bring-up, design optimization, embedded software trouble-shooting for wireless terminal devices. Work closely with Technology partners and Top Universities in USA to define new technology roadmap. Candidate will participate with RF, software, ME, Antenna and other various groups on design review and providing system requirement and specification for local and international development projects.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Master's degree preferred.
12+ years experience designing wireless consumer electronics.
Requirements:
Solid experience with Smartphone/Tablet hardware architecture and development life cycle.
Deep understanding of circuit fundamentals (digital and analog), Wireless technologies (CDMA, UMTS, EVDO, LTE, Wi-Fi, BT, NFC), system peripherals (LCD, Touch Panel, Camera, Microphone, Speakers), Low Power design optimization, and SoC architecture.
Additional skills should include: knowledge of transmission lines, cross talk, efficient low-power supply design, decoupling, and layout of high performance digital circuits; FPGA and CPLD design experience; familiarity with modems, DSPs, microprocessors, memories, LCD's, batteries, voltage regulators, camera sensors, and in-depth hands-on experience on system troubleshooting, HW verification, and embedded programming skills.
Excellent communication skills and ability to interface internally and externally with all levels of management.
Ability to travel to international and domestic development sites or customer locations.
