Mintel is in search of a Principal Innovation Consultant with a background as a researcher, consultant and innovative thinker and a distinguished career in the CPG industry. Experience working effectively at the senior executive level and a passion for consumers, strategy, markets and brands is essential for success in this role.
Mintel Consulting expects the Principal Consultant to demonstrate an area of expertise that enhances the capabilities of the team to build new consulting business. Examples of such expertise include, but are not limited to, new product development, innovation design, brand management, shopper insights, design strategy, white space thinking, strategic market evaluations, trend immersions, and opportunity landscaping.
Work with Account Manager to develop new consulting business and build client relationships
Collaborate with global consulting team and work alongside Mintel regional account teams to ensure all consulting projects and accounts are effectively managed
Use innovative thinking and entrepreneurial skills to spot opportunities, stretch a client’s thinking and validate opportunities
Prepare custom analysis and insight for clients and customize deliverables to fit client needs using original research, a library of pre-published content, and external quantitative and qualitative agencies
Apply experience with a wide range of client-types (e.g. manufacturers, retailers, and suppliers) to present future thinking, deliver research results and conduct innovation strategy workshops
Minimum 10 years of consumer research and / or consulting experience
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
Understanding of brand building, innovation processes, strategic NPD and methodologies for each
Highly developed analytical skills, ability to interpret a wealth of information from different sources to build compelling stories with a commercial conclusion and the capacity to develop and execute a consulting brief
Expertise working with syndicated sales data, such as IRI or Nielsen
Absolute fluency in written and spoken English with first class communication skills
Flexibility to travel regularly within the US and globally to meet with clients
