Job Responsibilities:
-This is an Expert Engineer position level in a Pipe Specification Engineering role and is looked upon for technical expertise.
-Provides project support as Pipe Specification Engineer.
-Performs complex activities relating t-project planning, execution, coordination and engineering design.
-Is responsible for manpower forecasting, scheduling, WBS preparation or input, progress measurement, monitoring and control of changes and other discipline related project functions.
-Ensures the proper tools and work processes are utilized
-Ensures appropriate discipline QA/QC procedures are implemented
-Responsible for the generation of piping material, piping component, mechanical valve & specialty item specifications for projects
-Performs pipe engineering design work as required
-Pipe wall thickness calculations
-Pipe fitting meter calculations
-pipe material selection
-valve selection
-specialty item selection
-Interfaces with Process Systems Group, piping designers, pipe stress engineers and IT Group on issues concerning pipe specs, valve specs, etc.
-Interfaces with other AL offices concerning pipe/valve/specialty item specifications t-ensure uniformity and consistency in the specifications between the offices
-Is responsible for maintaining all specifications t-current codes and standards
-Assumes responsibility for discipline related project costs, schedule, MTO's and man-hour budget.
-Prepares conceptual studies and material and man-hour estimates for projects and proposals
Skill Sets:
-Proficient in the use of piping spec. software such as Smartplant Materials, etc.
-Proficient in use of other miscellaneous software such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word

General Requirements
-Requires professional licensure
-Requires a Master's degree in Mechanical engineering and a minimum of fourteen years experience or a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of fifteen years experience
-Requires familiarity with ASME, API, ANSI & other related industry codes.
-Requires knowledge of internationally recognized piping, piping component and valve codes and standards
-Requires experience in a Lead Material Spec Engineer support role for projects.
-Requires experience in the petrochemical, ASU, power, cryogenic or other related industry
