Position Title: Principal Specialist Procurement
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:30 pm
Summary of Duties: Act as a member of a team responsible for sourcing and purchasing equipment, tools, supplies and services necessary for the operation of the Fab 8 Foundry (manufacturing facility) in Malta, New York. Interface with local supplier organizations and ensure local supplier development, cooperation, and partnership. Perform and close site specific negotiations and participate in global negotiations in alignment with the Global Sourcing Team. Act as the first contact point for internal customers for the capital equipment and related commodities. Ensure regular contact with interface partners to recognize developments and needs and support interdisciplinary work to influence and optimize internal processes and procedures. Support site specific supply issues together with industrial engineering, operations, and internal customers. Identify improvement potential and alternative equipment sourcing opportunities, analyze price development, communicate progress / achievements to global sourcing team and Operations. Monitor the national and international market to bring new suppliers, product derivatives and product innovations into the purchasing portfolio. Support Commodity Strategies to ensure the long-term, cost-effective supply of products and services. Support and perform benchmarking, spending, and commodity analysis. Manage supply risk (SWOT analyses and risk strategies). Provide support in equipment commodity sourcing activities to identify cost saving opportunities and supply risks and work closely with the Sourcing Team on supplier/equipment selection. Perform sourcing, cost, and savings reporting as well as controlling of 5 activities against the planned figures. Support internal customers and Finance in case of escalations related to supply issues, purchase orders, and payment execution.
Qualifications: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Business, Technology Management, or related field of study and 5 years of experience in the position offered or as a Procurement Engineer, Commodity Manager, Equipment Engineer, or related occupation. The position also requires demonstrated experience in negotiations and sourcing of capital equipment for high volume manufacturing in a global procurement organization; extensive experience in negotiation and in building strong relationships internally and externally, and potential to influence Business Owners at all Levels to use Procurement and Strategic Sourcing capabilities; proficiency in Source Manager skills and functions, including demonstrated ability to drive Strategy Development, Contract Management, Supplier Performance, Risk Management, Market Intelligence, and Industry Trend Monitoring for the assigned commodity; and ability to lead projects / project management, influencing and convincing customers, presentation skills, and selling the value proposition of procurement.
