TexelTek is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to join their growing team in the Annapolis Junction, MD offices. The System Administrator (SE) is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff and sub-contractors.
Duties and Responsibilities
Perform a wide range of system administration duties on multiple platforms (Linux, Windows and Mac), databases, and applications.
Experience with VMWare VSphere and Active Directory required
Experience with Microsoft Deployment Toolkit a plus
Proactive monitoring of entire infrastructure, applications and services using a combination of tools to include but not limited to SolarWinds, Splunk and Nagios.
Perform regular and on-demand system backups and recoveries.
Work with Dell Blades, as well NetApp and EqualLogic SANS.
Collect and review system data for capacity and planning purposes.
Manage & troubleshoot networks, intranet & Internet connectivity throughout the organization.
Work closely with the engineering team or individually to provide end-user support and issue resolution.
Rigorously create and maintain documentation for all processes and procedures.
Lead, train and support the work of other staff engaged in similar functions.
Attend and actively participate in weekly meetings.
Ability to lift and move up to 50lbs.
Current TS/SCI and polygraph clearance.
Experience: 10-15 years as a Systems Administrator.
Working knowledge of web applications, understanding of system vulnerabilities and countermeasures.
Strong technical aptitude and ability to research & solve complex issues independently.
Ability to effectively communicate issues and resolutions to all levels of the organization.
Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive customer and internal information.
Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment.
Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.
Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities.
Configure / add new services as necessary.
