Responsibilities for Geographic Area as assigned by Director, Property Tax

During first quarter of the year, verify, and be accountable for the accuracy of and submit for approval all state assessed property returns as assigned by Director, Property Tax.

During first quarter of the year, verify and be accountable for the accuracy of and submit for approval all local assessed property returns as assigned by Director, Property Tax.

During second quarter of the year, negotiate the assessed value for each property return assigned by the Director, Property Tax.

During second quarter of the year, conduct administrative appeals as approved by Director, Property Tax.

During second quarter of the year, recommend legal action to Director, Property Tax when proposed assessed values, at the conclusion of administrative appeals, are above the budget for assigned properties.

Create budget projections for all areas assigned by Director, Property Tax during the annual budget process in July/August.

Once a month, review the monthly property tax account reconciliation and submit for approval to Director, Property Tax.

Identify opportunities for exemptions and make recommendation to Director, Property Tax. If approved, apply, file, negotiate, and finalize exemption contract.

During fourth quarter of the year, prepare check requests for the payment of tax bills in the areas assigned by Director, Property Tax, verify the accuracy and submit to the Director, Property Tax for approval.

During fourth quarter of the year, monitor the tax bill paying process for compliance with payment due dates.

Identify opportunities for abatements and make recommendation to Director, Property Tax. If approved apply, file, negotiate and maintain abatement.

Maintain tax abatements by submitting required annual reports for appropriate country jurisdiction before due date.

Prepare property tax projections for Business Development to use in economic modeling of potential capital projects for areas assigned by Director, Property Tax within 5 days of request from Business Development.

As requested, assist Director, Property Tax in preparing confidential data and required reports for Due Diligence teams for potential acquisitions and divestitures.

Be a subject matter expert and resource for the other Property Tax team members.

Prepare and propose action steps for own individual plan of development.

Seek opportunities to make improvements to individual and/or team work scope and processes and propose improvements to Director, Property Tax.

Qualifications and Requirements for Principal Tax Analyst
Education: A college degree is required. Proficiencies in business, finance and computer applications (Outlook, Word, Access, Excel) are necessary.
Work Experience: A minimum of five years work experience. Oil & Gas industry experience is a plus, but not a requirement. I am looking for experience in business and finance. Property tax experience is a plus, but not a requirement. Any experience with the PTMS software application is a real plus.
Skills: The candidate should be able to manage their workload with little or no supervision. The candidate should be a proven problem solver. The candidate should be able to advocate a tax strategy to both internal and external parties. The candidate should able to work well with deadlines. The candidate will be a team player capable of working with other team members (Including remotely located team members). The candidate will need a “customer service” attitude. The candidate will be willing to serve others.
