Elavon launched a global, cross-functional team focused on launching revenue-generating mobile commerce products. The focus of this team will include mobile payments, mobile payment acceptance, integrated value-add services, and other adjacent technologies in conjunction with the Mobile Commerce Strategy of the Elavon business. The specific product focus will be on products and solutions related to the evolution at the point-of-sale (POS) and the interactive payment experience on smartphones and tablet devices.

This position is a global-focused role responsible for designing, architecting, design documenting, and developing products/solutions for highly-available and scalable mobile and tablet-based commerce solutions and products in strategic, international markets for the Elavon business. The primary responsibilities will include designing scalable SOA mobile commerce solutions with flexible architecture to integrate into core payment services by working closely within a cross-functional team to deliver revenue-generating services. The focus will include mobile payments, mobile payment acceptance, and other adjacent technologies in conjunction with the Mobile Commerce Strategy of the Elavon business. Structured and non-structured data architectures will be leveraged to drive rapid and secure data access to drive feature functionality.
Owns all of the Software, Application, and Data Architecture designs across Mobile Commerce Solutions;
Leverages extensive knowledge of client/server Service-Oriented-Architecture to develop highly-available and scalable Mobile Commerce Solutions through Distributed, Grid, or other scalable-architecture models;
Designs Open Secure API implementations leveraging WSS standards through SOAP, XML, JSON, jQuery, HTTP and REST architected interfaces;
Responsible for the design and development of new software or extensive software revisions;
Leads discussions around product architecture and system designs with internal and external stakeholders;
Architects all solutions in compliance to PCI-DSS, PCI PA-DSS, and other security industry standards;
Interfaces with the Lead Software Developer/Architect, design and implementation engineers, and architects for platform development and core integration to bring competitive solutions to the market, while maintaining design concept, scalability, availability, and security standards;
Ensures that all high-level and functional requirements are consistent, completely correct, and operationally-defined, leveraging technologies and standards that drive performance, security, flexibility, and lower the total cost of ownership;
Partitions complex systems into subsystems and components for individual focus for software developers/engineers;
Maintains standards and acceptance criteria and test (manual and automation) requirements for final solutions to ensure that architecture principals were adhered to within development of the solution;
Generates all design materials including Solution Architecture Design (SAD), models, Visio/UML, and other related architecture documents in support of Product Requirement Documentation and Software Architecture Design documentation;
Ensures that all architectural products and products with architectural input are maintained in the most current state and never allowed to become obsolete;
Leads system design activities or reviews system designs to ensure that applications solutions will exhibit high levels of performance, security, scalability, maintainability, appropriate reusability, and reliability upon deployment; and
Drives technology innovation through rapid proof of concepts.
6-10 years of system, data and application architecture design experience and 3+ years of lead architecture experience.
A bachelor’s degree in computer science and/or engineering. A master’s degree in a related field is a plus.
Agile (e.g. SCRUM) and Waterfall software development certifications and/or equivalent experience.
Experience with Cloud computing, SOA and/or Enterprise Service Bus, OGSA and other highly-available and scalable development and implementation
Experience in a high volume Internet/eCommerce/mCommerce operational environment and full understanding of the operational need in these environments while maintaining PCI-DSS and PCI PA-DSS compliance.
Experience in data modeling and large scale database design in Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, other RDMS platforms. NoSQL experience is a plus.
An understanding of database design techniques, OLTP design, data warehousing and NoSQL/DFS design
Understands the value proposition of different architectures to achieve high-availability and scalability throughout a Client-Server system and when to leverage one vs. another (e.g. Distributed, Parallel, Replicated Service Model, Failover Model, OGSA, etc.)
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication, leadership, influencing, decision, problem-solving, and strategic management skills to facilitate working in a global cross-functional team.
