Incumbent ensures the protection of the citizens of the Commonwealth by performing the work of probation/parole officer assigned to the court service unit. Duties include ensuring that juveniles and their families receive services appropriate to their needs in compliance with judicial orders, Court Service Minimum Standards, and good casework practices. Incumbent ensures public safety by assisting courts to hold juveniles accountable and offering rehabilitative opportunities. Duties include conducting and writing social history investigations and other reports, including case assessment, implementing supervision plans, and case management.
Considerable working knowledge of the principles and practices of court proceedings and treatment modalities is needed along with the ability to apply that knowledge to specific cases, demonstrated experience and skill in identifying youth's needs and matching these with court and community resources; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Preferred qualifications include a related degree, experience in probation/parole and experience in working with youth and families.
