The 11th District Court Service Unit is seeking a knowledgeable professional who can work to ensure the protection of the citizens of the Commonwealth of Virginia by assisting the court in holding juveniles accountable; serving as a representative of the Court Service Unit during legal proceedings, interact professionally with law enforcement, public agencies and various vendors. Duties include case management monitoring and documenting adherence to probation rules and service plans, writing social histories and other reports, maintain appropriate documentation in casework system (BADGE), recommending services, making referrals and providing special program services to juveniles and their families, as well as provide after hours "on-call" intake services and short-term crisis counseling.
Knowledge of the juvenile justice system and of court proceedings. Experience in interviewing and counseling and case management. Additional qualifications include: the ability to identify and utilize community service agencies; to interpret regulations, guidelines, and statutes; and to accurately assess client needs. The ability to communicate effectively with diverse socio-economic groups and populations and is also needed. A valid driver's license is needed by the time of employment.
Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, criminal justice, or related field; experience in counseling youth and families in a juvenile justice setting.
A pre-employment drug screen and background investigation are required. A valid Virginia driver's license may be required by the date of employment.
