The Probation Officer position ensures the protection of citizens of the Commonwealth by providing effective and meaningful supervision, counseling services, and case management to juveniles on probation and/or parole and their families. This position is reponsible for thorough assessment of case and treatment needs, evaluation of appropriate community resources and monitoring of progress. Provides case management for CSA (Comprehensive Services Act) referred juveniles. Prepares social history investigations, service plans, provides and coordinates service delivery and documents all case contacts. Provides 24 hour on-call coverage on a rotating basis.
Knowledge of the criminal justice system, including court proceedings. Experience in interviewing, counseling, and case management. Additional qualifications include: the ability to interpret regulations, guidelines and statues; to identify and use community resources and agency services; and to interact and communicate effectively both orally, and in writing, with diverse socio-economic groups/populations.
A degree in criminal justice, social work, psychology, or related field; and experience counseling maladaptive juveniles in a court setting.
