Provides supervision to offenders who are on probation or who are subject to a diversion contract. Completes reports that assist the court in case disposition. Completes correspondence to attorneys, judges, and service providers. Provides intake services, to include after hours on-call duty. Formulates supervision plans aimed at reducing or eliminating recidivism. Monitors court order compliance in post-disposition cases. In addition, presents cases to the Family Assessment and Planning Team for service/treatment consideration and to the Community Policy and Management Team for funding purposes. Makes detention home and other placement visits, and assists the court with arraignments and other duties as required by the supervisor, director, or judges. Is responsible for accurately entering intake and casework data in BADGE. Attends training as specified by the supervisor and accurately documents training hours, leave reports, time sheets, and travel reimbursement requests.
Knowledge of the juvenile justice system, court proceedings and adolescent development. A working knowledge of Microsoft Word. Knowledge of criminogenic risk factors, developmental assets, family systems, evidence based and current best practives, and effective interventions. Very good oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to work well with individuals and other agencies and the ability to identify and utilize community resources.
A Bachelor's Degree in psychology, criminal justice, social work, sociology or related field as well as current or prior experience working with delinquent adolescents or in the juvenile justice field in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
