The Dow Chemical Company has an exciting opportunity for a Process Automation Engineer for our Hahnville Site located 15 minutes from New Orleans. The Automation Engineer is a member of an empowered team responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the St. Charles Gas Phase Polyethylene Plant. The position entails providing technical support to operations on the use of Basic Process Control Systems as well as Advanced Process Control Systems, and using these systems for the optimization of the current production process to meet plant safety and environmental, production, cost, customer, and quality goals.
Responsibilities:
Provide technical support and troubleshooting on plant control system for plant operations
Optimize plant operations and implement best practices through the use of plant control systems.
Maintain, track, and improve key plant process control metrics in support of meeting business goals
Communicate information and issues regarding plant control systems to plant personnel and Technical Center
Lead and participate in Root Cause Investigations for unplanned events relating to plant control systems
Provide input to the Control Systems Upgrade Project
Identify improvement project opportunities through analysis of plant operating data
Required Skills:
Must possess technical and interpersonal skills in a results-oriented environment
Highly self motivated and capable of working effectively on several projects
Qualifications
Required Skills:
Three years of experience in process, project, or manufacturing engineering is preferred
Must possess technical and interpersonal skills in a results-oriented environment
Highly self motivated and capable of working effectively on several projects simultaneously is required
Background in process automation or implementing process automation projects is preferred
Required Education:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering required
Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering is preferred
Green Belt and/or Green Belt Project Leader certification and/or BB certification preferred
