Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Process Control Engineer will work collaboratively with production and technical personnel, and is responsible for maintenance, support, development, and improvement of basic/advanced process control, safety instrumented system, and historian applications to progress the operational, EHS, and Process Safety performance of Borger Nitrogen Operations.

Specific Responsibilities Will Include:
Experience with or aptitude to understand ammonia and urea processes

Works collaboratively with production and technical personnel towards DCS, APC, SIS, and HMI design, maintenance, troubleshooting, tuning, modifications, upgrades, and continuous improvement

Works collaboratively with production and technical personnel to determine key improvement areas towards development of long term strategies, implementation plans, budgeting, detailed development, and project execution to optimize plant efficiency and profitability

Works collaboratively with production and technical personnel on design, configuration, maintenance and improvements to displays, condition monitoring and analyzer interface, information systems, and reports/logs

Owner of SIS lifecycle and alarm rationalization management program

Support and improve critical defeat systems management

Support of other US N2 facilities (25 / 75% split with BNO)

Participation in technical networks, with awareness in industry best practices and emerging technologies

Implementation of operator training simulators and dynamic simulation models

Support process engineer with data mining, advanced data analysis, and energy conservation/emission reduction initiatives

Provide user training and assistance to assure safe and competent use of control / safety systems

Manage technical and equipment support contracts, Agrium liaison with vendors

Technical support and advisor for production and technical personnel on Manufacturing Excellence and industry standards (ANSI/ISA – S84.01 (IEC 61511)

Stewardship of annual budgets

Ability to handle a large and varied workload, and make timely decisions

Availability for call outs after hours and on holidays

Qualifications of the Position Include:
B.S. or M.S. degree in Chemical Engineering, with specialization in process control

3-5 years experience with advanced/basic process control, safety instrumented systems, and historian applications in chemical processing industry

Excellent interpersonal, communication, planning, problem solving, decision making, and organizational skills.

Familiarity with network administration, domain controllers, DCS programming, Honeywell, Triconex, Extrel mass spectrometer, Top Tech, SKF and Bentley Nevada online monitoring systems, a plus

Average of 20-30% travel
