Summary of Position
This position is responsible for the precious metal impregnation of autocatalysts on each line shift. The incumbent directly supervises the activities of all hourly personnel who are assigned to the impregnation area and is responsible for the quality and attainment on his/her shift
Nature and Scope
Process Control Engineers report directly to the Process Control Supervisor and work with the Washcoat Engineer and Production Supervisor on each shift in attaining optimal productivity and quality.
The Incumbent is responsible for the effective utilization of ~ 60,000 Troy Ounce of precious metal per year.
Also, the Process Control Engineer interacts with the Maintenance Supervisor in solving process / equipment problems and ensures the proper operation of all equipment in the impregnation area.
The Process Control Engineers coordinates and supervises the activities of the following hourly employees assigned to the impregnation area in order to ensure timely system changeovers, high health and safety standards, proper raw material requirements to meet the production schedule and required product quality.
Hourly Employees – (1 Work Leader, Line Operators, B Operators) – Carry out precious metal batching, system changeovers, buffer batching and housekeeping tasks at impregnation.
The Incumbent will also provide weekly / monthly reports on specific operating results, and suggest methods for improvement via procedural change, or initiation of capital project requests. Similarly, Process Control Engineers will work independently on assigned project work, as well as, support the capital plan in the impregnation area.
Employee will comply with all Johnson Matthey Hazardous Waste procedures and local, state and federal regulatory requirements policies.

Manage a line shift in the precious metal impregnation area for autocatalyst to include the following responsibilities:
Maintain target precious metal loadings.
Achieve product quality (LTY goal).
Achieve plant attainment goals.
Attain raw material utilization goals on spent and process solution.
Maintain plant health and safety requirements.
Direct hourly employees to ensure productive and efficient operation of the impregnation area.
Suggest procedural and process improvements to meet the plant’s productivity and quality goals.
Critique and help direct capital projects in the impregnation area.
Support the implementation of new technology through new procedures and training of personnel.
Knowledge, Skills, and Educational Requirements
The Process Control Engineer will have a B.S. in an engineering discipline with 0-2 years of chemical industry experience or equivalent.
