Lead Manufacturing Process 2A
Pontiac, MI

The process engineer responsible for developing manufacturing processes, equipment/tooling alternatives, sequence and flow of operations for the effective utilization of personnel, material, machines and facilities necessary for the production of parts. Work is performed in a centralized manufacturing engineering activity or assembly/plant activity where a considerable amount of creativity and initiative is exercised as well as a high level of independent judgment.

Responsible for:
· Manufacturing process definition
· Sequence of operations
· Human factors consideration
· Efficient material flow
· Design, construction, integration, plant installation, successful launch and continuous improvement of equipment and tools required in plants for the production of high quality parts.
· Providing technical direction to and oversight of outside vendor sources
· Work may involve development and testing of advanced process technology.
· Proposes and evaluates manufacturing process and equipment for assigned areas of plant
· Directs the development and/or improvements of manufacturing processes and equipment
· Evaluates expenditures for processes and/or equipment
· Provides technical assistance and training for assigned plant operations
· Regular contact with others outside the work group
· Works closely with production and maintenance personnel and suppliers to ensure timely completion of projects
· Analyze tooling and equipment and select proper steps for solution
· Meet plant goals and standards in safety, quality, delivery and cost
· Responsible for the effective use of personnel, material and equipment in supporting SPQRC initiatives
· Must support plant in achieving Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness and Cost goals
· Must be willing to work any assigned shift, work daily, weekend, and holiday overtime as required
· Supports/implements the QS9000/ISO14001/(GMS) Global Manufacturing System compliance processes
Requirements:

MUST HAVE: - Manufacturing Engineering Experience in cylinder head or cylinder block
· Minimum of 5 years experience with cylinder head or cylinder block processing
· Strong technical knowledge and ability in process engineering disciplines
· Strong knowledge and ability to implement GMS principles
· Demonstrate excellent level of analytical ability, communication and interpersonal skills required to build relationships with team members and customers to solve problems and resolve issues.
· Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and difficult projects and assignments with high level of autonomy and accountability for results
· Demonstrates initiative by reaching beyond work assigned to improve output and/or help others
· Proven ability in project management skills
· Manufacturing Engineering Experience in cylinder head or cylinder block
· Aluminum Machining Experience
· CNC Machining Experience
· Manufacturing Production Experience
· Knowledge in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint - Advanced level
· Knowledge with Lotus Notes or other email communication tool - Advanced level
· Strong interpersonal skills involving ability to work effectively cross-functionally and cross-culturally
· Strong written and oral communication skills necessary for meetings and presentations
· Ability to work well with others, exhibiting teamwork skills
· Partners with senior management to analyze and solve issues
· Ability to multitask by handling diverse assignments concurrently
· Strong mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback
· Expert knowledge of tooling and manufacturing processes
· Bachelor of Science in Engineering
