We are seeking a Process Engineer for our Rock Island, IL facility. All candidates must be available to work between the hours of 6pm -6:30am; schedule will be determined upon employment.

Position reports to the Production Manager in a matrix reporting structure will assume responsibility for providing technical and processing support to a production shift in a 24 hour operation. Provides management support and supervises all aspects of a shift related to production, quality, process maintenance, process improvement and maintenance.

Job Responsibilities:
Performs trouble shooting of molding processes and secondary operations (robotics, automation, trimming, packaging, palletizing) and equipment. Assists supervisors, engineers and technicians in repairing and updating production equipment and making recommendations for improvement of processes. Utilizes sound processing and molding knowledge in setting and maintaining process operating parameters of molds, robots and related support equipment. Assures adherence to manufacturing requirements. Ensures that his/her work habits adhere to the Health, Safety and Environmental policies and practices of the department and the Facility. Ensures that all Health, Safety and Environmental features and/or functions of the machinery are operational and within specification creates SOPs, audits, involved with corrective actions, etc related to HSE. Directs supervisors and molding technicians in setting and maintaining optimum molding parameters to achieve production volume goals at the highest quality level with the lowest cost. Assists with supervising production personnel in a shift, following standardized work schedules leading tier meetings, tracking hourly production data, correcting and maintaining production based on data, loading mold data, maintaining robots, programming robots. Possesses ability to program or trouble shoot robots (different makes), maintain mold data, check and repair automation equipment. Should be well versed in practical engineering disciplines of pneumatics, hydraulics and electrical engineering. These principles will be used on a daily basis for processing and troubleshooting. Coordinates with other engineers and manufacturing process technologies (R&D) to improve existing parts and generate support data to recommend changes. Evaluates new materials, runs DOEs on sample materials, tracks and records data related to samples. Works in fast paced operational environment with constant interaction with operators, technicians and equipment. Assists in training and evaluating departmental personnel. Plans, designs, coordinates and manages to completion capital and continuous improvement projects to meet quality, productivity and cost objectives consistent with departmental goals. Typical projects would include process automation, resin cost reductions, virgin to scrap ratio modulations, replacement tooling. Maintain, train and handle daily activities related to 5S, CI activities. Maintain cell risk assessments, ensure safety adherence, champion safety improvement activities. Tracks, charts and makes corrections based on data related to productivity, quality, safety, cost. Fully involved in all HOS activities participates in Gembas, learns and utilizes HOS tools. Highly involved in Lean Management and becomes a proponent and champion of operational excellence. Assists in mold changes, setting up of mold fixtures, moving equipment. Utilizes sound knowledge of PVC, resins and molding to improve processing features and to make the operations more efficient. Involved in ISO related activities, safety audits, HOS activities, Kaizen events. Other duties as assigned by manager. Physical Demands:

The physical demands described are representative of an employee to successfully perform the functions of the job. The employee is expected to be in the production floor for the majority of the day, keeping an eye on processes, production, etc. This involves standing, squatting, constant movement, walking, etc. The employee is required to use hands to finger, handle, feel and inspect boots. The employee is expected to be able to run production equipment and to be able to impart the knowledge of handling product to production employees.

The employee is expected to be able to move materials using powered trucks. Fork Truck training will be provided. The employee will also be trained on moving and changing molds as needed. Will be expected to participate in machine trouble shooting which will involve working under equipment, etc following safe practices.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
B.S in plastics engineering, polymer engineering, electrical, chemical, manufacturing or industrial engineering. 4 years of related experience in plastics processing for injection molding with significant process engineering experience in injection molding or experience in automation/robotics in a manufacturing environment. 2 years of experience with six sigma and lean manufacturing methodologies experience. 2 years of experience in problem solving and trouble shooting of processes and process equipment. 2 years MS Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, MS Office).

Additional Qualifications:
Experience in the field of injection molding. Experience in automation including robotics. Experience in analysis of manufacturing processes, development of process improvements and validation of process changes. Excellent verbal and visual communication skills. Ability to lead a team and to work in a progressively improving team environment. Experience with DOE, PFMEA, SPC. Experience leading production employees.
