SUMMARY: Responsible for the development and improvement of the manufacturing process

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned

Directs department activities to improve production techniques, coordinate engineering design change requests, improve product routing, and improve the standardization of inputs.

Tracks Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) for the facility as a whole. Communicates those results to Management and uses this data to direct staff on improvement projects.

Serves as a pillar team leader on the facility World Class Manufacturing (WCM) improvement system. Guiding the improvement process of that team.

Analyzes technology trends, human resource needs, and market demand to plan projects and facilitate improvements to product and process.

Confers with management, production, design, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer cost.

Prepares and manages departmental budget.

Management of the facilities capital investment plan and the industrialization of all new production equipment.

Problem Solving for internal and external customers

Facilities layouts and manufacturing cell design.

Measures workgroup and facility performance using Key Performance Indicators (KPI).

Interface with customers, vendors, and sales for new launches and issues involving current product.

Assist with vendor development for new products

TYPICAL PRODUCTION PROCESSES TO BE FAMILIAR WITH
Component Assembly

Welding (Arc and projection primarily)
CNC Machining
Screw Machines
Induction hardening
Precision Grinding
Chrome Plating
Steel Tube Processing including (bulging, swigging, stamping, and cutting)
Electro-static Painting

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

4 year engineering degree. MS or MBA preferred

5 to 7 years experience in manufacturing process engineering role
2 to 3 years minimum experience in engineering manager role preferred

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Ability to work in teams; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to use Microsoft Office; excellent communication skills both written and verbal, proven ability to work under pressure; knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques, knowledge of EPR systems.
