GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:|
The PSM Coordinator’s primary responsibility is the oversight and enhancement
of the Process Safety Management Program by ensuring our facility is a safe,
healthy workplace. This position is responsible for monitoring and enforcing
the comprehensive processes to effectively manage the hazards related to
hazardous chemicals per OSHA standards. Supports the production of safe, quality

Aid in developing and delivering Process Safety training
Maintains training records & operator qualifications in support of PSM
Coordinate training of all team members in the 14 elements of PSM.
Contribute to the development and improvement of the program by periodically
auditing all 14 elements for adherence to the written programs.
Develop and maintain Process Safety Management Performance Standards
Maintain alignment with corporate safety goals.
Track and report process safety leading and lagging indicators, key process
safety metrics, action plans, and priority recommendations
Analyze incidents and near misses to develop action plans to eliminate
hazards, utilizing the DMAIC process to identify root causes.
Identify process safety improvement opportunities through interaction with
the Process Safety Team and system operators.
Make recommendations, justifications and implement new tools and work
Lead PHA (Process Hazard Analysis) discussions and revalidations every five
years; oversee the completion of associated tasks, and Identify qualified team
members to participate.
Insure compliance audits are conducted every three years and all action
items are completed.
Prepare and participate in key Pre-Startup Safety and Operational Readiness
Assure Management of Change (MOC) procedures are followed and completed.
Work with the Maintenance Manager to ensure proper completion of the
Mechanical Integrity Program, including the PM Program compliance with all
Update and maintain the Emergency Plan for Emergency Response.
Oversee the contractor safety program.
Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the ammonia
and plant support systems.
experience in the field of Process Safety Management.
- Bachelor degree in Safety or Chemical Engineering or equivalent
- 3+ years of experience in a process safety role in a manufacturing
Environmental Protection Agency Risk Management Plan (USEPA RMP) regulations
- Familiarity with 6 Sigma or other continuous improvement processes
- Experience with ISO14001 or related safety management systems
- Strong working knowledge of the OSHA PSM Standard and US
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), CPSA or other related
- Extensive experience with and knowledge of ammonia refrigeration
- CARO or CIRO certification through RETA
- Formal training in Process Safety Management
High attention to detail, writing proficiency and organization skills
Self sufficient and able to effectively work independently
Able to develop and deliver process safety training
Proven skills in managing a process from implementation through conclusion
involving key team members through the entire organization
Liaison with regulatory agencies

Active participation and involvement in professional related organizations
(i.e. RETA, IIAR, ASSE, etc.).
