Entry-level position normally requiring 0-2 years of experience in an engineering company or related industry.

Overview:

Under close supervision, performs routine technical and administrative assignments which are clearly defined. Activities are directly initiated, supervised and reviewed by a lead Process engineer or by a more senior Process technician.

EDUCATION:

A 2-year degree in an engineering technology or related field is preferred. Other technical experience and time completed toward a chemical engineering or other related degree will be considered.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Entry-level position normally requiring 0-2 years of experience in an engineering company or related industry.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist Lead Engineer with set-up and maintenance of process files.
  • Assist Lead Engineer with set-up and maintenance of process electronic files.
  • Assist engineers with creation, maintenance, tracking, and issuance of equipment data sheets
  • Assist engineers with creation, maintenance, tracking, and issuance of instrument specifications.
  • Assist engineers with maintenance, tracking and backchecking of PFDs and P&IDs.
  • Assist Lead Engineer with personnel-hour tracking, vacation scheduling, and status reports.
  • Assist engineers with confidential document handling and control.
  • Create process equipment sketches for engineers utilizing Excel, Visio or other drafting program.
  • Assist with instrument data and line list data importation into Wintegrate or other database.
  • Create miscellaneous spreadsheets as needed.
  • Provide support in setup and operation of PFD and P&ID reviews utilizing the Smartboard Standard review template (CorelDraw). Active member of the Process Department Smartboard support team.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze and interpret engineering design drawings, technical procedures and specifications, government regulations, business correspondence and manuals. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures. Ability to effectively, verbally communicate directions to craft supervisors and respond to questions from clients, managers and fellow workers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate manpower needs and review numerical, statistical data. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Must be proficient in basic math and knowledgeable of geometric formulas for the purpose of calculating volume, distance, angles, percentage, and conversion of fractions to decimals and applying ratios.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to stand, walk, reach, climb and balance. Lifting up to 50 Lbs. Vision must be clear at close and distance with depth perception and the ability to focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Normal work environment will be a business office with moderate nose. Occasionally, will be required to work in an operating plant or at a construction site. This may require exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud nose, work near moving mechanical parts, electrical energy, construction equipment, vibration, fumes, chemicals and airborne particles.
