This position interviews patients, establishes the financial plan agreement and assist patients with all questions concerning their financial file and bill. Verifies commercial insurance, Medicare and Medicaid benefits. Establishes processes, monitors and maintains all patient accounts including following all commercial insurance Medicare and Medicaid guidelines in order to obtain maximum benefits. Establishes deferred payment plan as requested. Maintains patient's financial file. Processes all medical invoices received. Reviews charges attached to patient visits for accuracy. Keys financial information/data into computer system for billing. Obtains patient consent as required. Works closely with the central billing office to ensure accurate billing of payment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:

Ability to proofread and edit data, documents, reports and memos as related to spelling, punctuation, grammar and rewriting or revising passages for grammar, format test, tables, illustrations, etc. Significant knowledge of accounting procedures, mathematics and the ability to apply a variety of work-related formulas or mathematical calculations. Ability to learn and independently apply laws and facility rules and regulations. Ability to record, compile summarize and perform basic analysis data. Ability to independently work with people with courtesy and tact in performing public contact duties that may be sensitive in nature. Ability to operate a computer and utilize e-mail, MS Word, Power Point, Excel and Publisher. Management will give preference to applicants with 2 years of experience working with medical services in a State Operated Facility and familiar with the Medicaid, Medicare and Commercial Insurance billing process.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills, and abilities gained through at least two years of office assistant/secretarial experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Management will give preference to applicants with 2 years of experience working with medical services in a State Operated Facility and familiar with the Medicaid, Medicare and Commercial Insurance billing process.
