Reporting to the Vice President of Engineering, the Product Development Manager is responsible for all aspects of product development of the next generation of power conversion products for solid state lighting applications. The Product Development Manager will lead and provide technical oversight for a cross-functional development team with expertise in hardware, firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing disciplines with a primary focus of getting products to market on time and to specification.
Responsible for all aspects of project planning including preparation of schedules and budgets and the delegation of tasks to team members
Conducts regular design review and project status meetings
Defines and manages work for subcontractors
Responsible for all aspects of regulatory (FCC) and safety compliance (UL) of products including liaison with laboratories, preparation of samples and documentation
Participates and supports the manufacturing ramp up of new products
Advises the Vice President of Engineering on project progress, opportunities that may be pursued, and product/process/technology trends
Participates in the evaluation of new technologies
Participates in defining product strategy and road map.
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with a strong background in firmware development
At least 7 years of experience working through the design, development, release cycle, and delivery of products to market
Minimum of 5 years of management/leadership experience in development of firmware embedded electronic products
Familiarity with regulatory and safety requirements for power conversion products
Ability to prepare written technical reports and document engineering activities
Familiarity with development of power conversion products is an asset
Proven team management skills
Experience with the creation and maintenance of project budgets and schedules
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Familiarity with design for manufacturing processes and techniques
Ability to work collaboratively with a team
Ability to take initiative
Willingness and ability to get involved in project tasks to maintain schedules
