Product Development Manager

Reports To: Manager – Solutions Development

Direct Reports: None

Location: Town & Country, MO

Description of Responsibility

Product Development Manager is accountable for the successful integration of new product offerings into the corporate data systems and business processes. Works with Product Management, Product Engineering, and in some cases customer account teams to garner and review the necessary requirements to enable the delivery of a fully functional commercial and technical model. This position will conceive and manage the strategy which will be used to properly implement and effectively support the quoting, billing, pricing, process development and service package creation required for a functional product. This position is responsible for completing all necessary development, testing, process and approval steps necessary for launching new commercial offerings as well as providing sustaining support for existing commercial offerings. This position is also responsible for completion of accurate and clear requirements relating to required functionality needed from the BSS and OSS development teams as well as orchestrating the delivery of services within the customer Portal.

Position Objectives

  • Participate in the shaping of product and engineering specifications which will lead to the successful and efficient development of the technical components required for a functional product.
  • Establish timelines and milestones required for each project.
  • Sequence and effectively assist other Product Developers and team members during the product development process.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with other organizations and work with each functional team to create and execute a strategy for each project.
  • Subject matter expert with regards to standardized and customized commercial and technical models utilized to support the desired product needs.
  • Ability to work with impacted parties within the BSS and OSS development teams to craft clear and effective business requirements associated with quoting, pricing, billing, performance monitoring, data collection, event management, and service management.
Essential Duties

  • Review and evaluate new prioritized product concepts or existing service gaps at the product level and/or customer level.
  • Identify, participate, and document solutions that address or streamline the experience of our most complex accounts.
  • Develop a project plan and clear documented steps designed to achieve stated objectives.
  • Identify and maintain standardized commercial models including validation and notification of necessary financial tracking and metrics required to support the product requirements.
  • Create and maintain documentation and training material for new and existing products including order and billing processes as well as other processes required for the successful launch of services.
  • Ongoing maintenance and changes required to support the life cycle of a product including pricing and billing changes.
  • Work closely with Solutions Program Management regarding timeline management including delivery of key milestones and delivery dates for required development tasks.
  • Work directly with downstream development organizations including delivery of business requirements and direct participation in design sessions intended to fill the stated gaps.
Required Skills

  • Minimum 3 years project management experience
  • Minimum 2 years industry experience
o Managed Hosting\Security\Colocation

o IP Networking\Media Services

o Data Center Infrastructure\Wide Area Networks

o Virtualized Services

  • Ability to manage several projects concurrently
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, MS Project, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Visio
  • Solid understanding of organizational structure and best practices
Desired Skills

  • Corporate training experience
  • Call center experience, finance experience
  • Hosting, Network, Financial services provider experience
  • Knowledge of effective billing, pricing, and support models
  • Knowledge of hosting and network hardware

Education or Equivalent Experience

  • Four year BS/BA or relevant experience in related field
