products. This Product Line Manager position will manage both Product Analysis and Pricing teams for aligned regions within State Management. Leads and develops a staff of Managers of Product Analysis and Pricing Actuaries. Works to strategically develop, communicate, and coordinate key growth and profit initiatives and metrics within the Product and Actuarial organization and across functions such as Distribution, Claims, Service, and Underwriting. Develops and drives best practices and influences the strategies of other groups within the organization. Possesses an executive presence. Expected to be highly innovative and consistently demonstrate strong financial acumen.
Assists State Management SVP in leading implementation of overall strategic direction of Safeco Auto and Home lines; ensures alignment within and across functions and communicates throughout the entire operation. Actively supports compliance with LOB priorities.
Actively builds and sustains strong pipeline of analytical talent, especially at Product Analyst level, to support the growth needs of Product and Actuarial department and of the broader organization.
Readily demonstrates understanding of key industry and competitive conditions, as well as the operations & challenges facing other parts of our SBU and other SBU's. Anticipates future trends and challenges, and develops and implements strategies to address opportunities. Uses experience, analytical abilities, and communications skills to contribute to the success of all businesses.
Frequently communicates with all levels on state specific strategy and tactics, operating model, roles and responsibilities, and performance expectations around initiatives, product, rate and retention. Establishes and drives comprehensive communication plan to all employees. Clearly communicates priorities and expectations.
Leads projects and teams, leveraging experience, analytical abilities, and communication skills to drive Safeco Product Management strategies and tactics.
Champions cost effective processes and technology solutions.
Drives improvements in internal and external customer satisfaction survey results. Improves the customer experience, including: minimizing errors; streamlining processes; and effective internal and external communications.

Understands and utilizes high level analytics including complex multivariate models.
Demonstrates intellectual curiosity to identify trends, potential issues and their underlying causes.
Effectively communicates sophisticated financial/actuarial data to varied audiences; appropriately tailors communications based on the audience.
Develops and presents strategic proposals to regional leadership teams and members of the Senior Leadership team.

Drives the effective use of our HR policies, practices and tools in the areas of recruitment, development, performance management, and compensation to ensure we are constantly improving management talent and the quality of our overall workforce.
At least 10-15 years of experience within Product and Personal Lines Insurance, including the management of P&L required
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Finance or a related field required; MBA and industry designation(s) desirable
Business knowledge is broad across the insurance industry (experience in multiple disciplines)
