Atlassian is looking for a Product Marketing Manager; a special evangelist/marketer that can communicate genuinely with developers who have a nose for normal marketing bullshit. The ideal candidate will be able to talk the talk and walk the walk when it comes to topics like distributed version control, common developer workflows and developer tools. They will be able to condense highly technical concepts into tangible stories that developers respect. This person detests fluff marketing, and has intense pride in sharing useful information in a fun and meaningful way. They have worked in the trenches long enough to know what motivates developers, and love to participate in developer forums and communities. Aside from individual responsibilities, they are great team players who continually find ways to make their teams better.
Product Marketing At Atlassian:
Let's face it... Product marketing at most tech companies is a bunch of bogus paper pushing. At Atlassian, things are different! In fact - we rarely hire anyone with formal experience in product marketing. For the nitty-gritty marketing content, you will be our boots on the ground. You will own the product positioning and the creative angles we use for representing the products. Your input will be key in determining product roadmap and your market driven analysis plays a massive role in product direction. As for launches and campaigns, you are the driver to get them off the ground. It's technical, it's analytical, and it's a boatload of fun working with the sharpest product marketing team in tech.
What You'll Do: :
Think with the mind of the developer at all times
Create the 'Go To Market' plans required to drive revenue growth for Atlassian's portfolio of development tools
Generate marketing videos and blogs with the technical precision developers expect and the fun 'X factor' that they admire
Team leadership skills to unite internal development, product management marketing & sales common goals
Demonstrate to customers compelling uses for Atlassian products, both separately and together.
Assimilate feed back from customers, partners and the competitive landscape for Product Management for incorporation into future product releases
Craft all of the product specific copy on the company web page to be consistent with company values and customer's needs
Arm the technical sales team with concise knowledge (competitive analysis, market landscape, product positioning) to assist them in delivering rapid and repeatable sales
What You've Done :
Motivated, no-bullshit self-starter. Enthusiastic. Creative. Pragmatic. Analytical.
2-5 years Product Management / Development or Sales Engineering experience in a high tech, software company - ideally focused on developer or technical team oriented technologies and products
BS/BA degree, CS desired or equivalent work experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent prioritization skills to individually detect and deliver the most important things first
Team player who innately balances making the team better and getting their own work done
Deep understanding of Agile development methods
