The US M&O SQL team is looking for a new Director, taking responsibility for the scorecard, the business plans, and the execution of a very large SQL business. Join us in our journey to win Tier 1 workloads, develop our field solution selling muscle, and evolve our business as we enable our customers to take advantage of both on premises technologies with SQL as well as the database capabilities within Azure. Also includes responsibilities for launch, readiness, compete and all segment sales and marketing activities to drive demand and revenues. The candidate for this role needs to be an experienced senior marketing leader with affinity for the application platform business. Additional the candidate needs to be passionate about marketing the management and platform experience to our commercial customers to successfully compete against Oracle in the competitive market.
Responsibilities for the US M&O SQL Director include:
1) Lead the sales and marketing team focused on delivering over $2.5B in SQL revenues. Lead launch
planning, and execution across sales, marketing and IT Pro as we continue to launch new data platform services for our US customers. Provide team leadership and strong cross group collaboration across a highly matrixed environment to deliver strong demand generation, marketing execution and sales strategies to drive two key US scorecard metrics.
2) Work with the WW BG to deliver the field and partner readiness around the Oracle compete, core application platform scenarios and the product launches.
3) Lead the US Oracle compete strategy and execution. Deliver key enterprise strategies to drive POCs, sales and deployment of Microsoft’s platform and database virtualization across the US customer base.
Focus in FY13 is driving the development of Pursuit Teams, Tier One workload wins, strong services and partner integration and developing a strategy to integrate our business between on premises with SQL and in the cloud with Windows Azure.
Accountabilities for this role are:
The candidate we are looking for has proven track record in people leadership, collaboration and business leadership. This individual will provide subsidiary leadership to drive over 15% growth in key areas of the business, to work with the WW BG to develop and then drive key execution strategies to support our launch, compete and sales efforts. This individual must have:
- SQL license growth, renewal and units (key scorecard item)
- Oracle compete share growth (share dashboard)

Candidate will be directly responsible for managing a team of senior and high performing professionals and work closely with the WW Server BG, US DPE, US Public Sector, US EPG, and the US CMO.
To be successful - the candidate will need to balance strategic thinking with executing against a detailed sales and marketing plan and must have a strong passion for marketing and authentic communication.
Prefer 7+ years’ experience in business leadership
Experience with running highly complex initiatives and rolling out marketing campaigns
Understanding and experience in the enterprise and public sector segments preferable
Demonstrated self starter with the ability to work in an ambiguously defined environment
A very strong cross-team collaborator with a successful track record of leading and motivating cross-company virtual teams
to drive action
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively to senior level management
