We have an opening for a Product Quality Control Inspector. This position reports to the Inventory Control Supervisor.

Insure spoilage losses are kept to acceptable level in all areas and customers' product complaints on quality of product are kept at an acceptable level. Maintain a daily log of quality problems and follow-up as directed by Supervisor
Physical inspection of inbound produce. For truckload quantity, randomly inspect 4-5 cases of each item. Verify dock and cooler temperatures. Report quality problems to Merchandiser or request Federal Produce Inspection. Obtain documentation for suspect or rejected loads and file appropriate claims.
Daily review of all items on Produce Inspection report, noting grade, quantity differences, and expiration dates on the report. Specifically note item and quantities marked for disposal. Review report daily with Supervisor.
Inspect condition of all customer-returned produce. Items that do not clearly meet Sysco Albany standards must be marked for disposal and accurately noted on daily dump sheet.
Report via email and follow-up all daily problems regarding product condition, dates, inventory levels, warehouse condition, etc. with I/C Supervisor and buyer.
Perform weekly Cycle Count for cooler aisles D, F, G, H following procedure and timeline as instructed by Supervisor. Document quality issues.
Re-ice fresh fish as assigned by Supervisor
Work with Operations departments as needed to assist with training on selection and product handling; other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor or Controller, including but not limited to filling in for other department members during absences.
Interested candidates must have these qualifications:
Strong technical and communication skills including email, keyboard skills, written and verbal communication. Knowledge of SUS or SWMS desired.
3-5 years perishable product experience including knowledge of standards, grades and quality related issues.
Three (3) years food distribution industry experience.
High school graduate; two-year college degree preferred.
