Incumbent manages Global On-Highway Aftermarket Truck Parts business.
Incumbent will manage the Caterpillar Inc. sourcing strategy for bumper-to-bumper truck parts and implement that strategy at Caterpillar and North American dealers.
Incumbent works with suppliers, both internal and external, to negotiate, develop and monitor sustainable enterprise aftermarket parts plans to meet internal and dealer needs while also balancing profit, priority, inventory investments and commitment to the end users. A central responsibility of this role is the engagement of Cat dealers in the aftermarket truck parts business.
Dealer development of parts and service capabilities and dealer engagement in the business will be a key indicator of success.
Position will monitor, manage, and communicates aftermarket parts business performance metrics within Caterpillar and the Cat dealer network.
Position identifies/implements enterprise aftermarket parts process improvements using 6 Sigma and Services Marketing methodology.
Incumbent works with senior management to identify/implement continuous improvement and best practice projects at Cat and Cat dealers.
Decisions made/recommended at this level could have significant impact on on-highway truck parts strategies and business results.
Incumbent works independently and manages the compliance of own assignments. Leads long-term strategy development and developing and maintaining multi-year plans and objectives.
Typical internal customers include CSS Parts Marketing, Global Purchasing, Reman and Cat Logistics.
External contacts include parts vendors throughout worldwide markets and solutions providers as well as Cat dealers.
The position is challenged to carefully evaluate problems and review a large number of possible solutions before selecting one option.
Problems may be complex and can require the incumbent to develop solutions. The incumbent sets priorities and establishes a work plan in order to complete broadly defined assignments and achieve desired results.
Must have ability and leadership skills to work with people from many different backgrounds, cultures and levels within the organization.
Good interpersonal skills are required to develop a collaborative/cooperative work relationship with others inside and outside the business unit.
Develops organization, recruits and trains individuals to ensure accomplishment of tasks.
Ensures through working with staff and internal support organizations that products are launched to support this strategic initiative and that dealers are engaged.
The position manages a work unit of primarily management/professional employees where monitoring and reviewing work of subordinates is required as well as training, developing and mentoring.
The position is responsible for all personnel issues and performance evaluation of subordinates.
- Minimum 9-12 years of job related experience
- Thorough knowledge of company products, product applications or merchandising programs
- Previous experience managing successful strategy development and deployment
- Experience working with dealers
Previous field experience at Caterpillar or within the On-Highway business
Excellent interpersonal skills are required in order to deal with sensitive issues, develop others, or persuade others inside and outside the department to take specific actions
- Minimum 9-12 years of progressively responsible job related experience preferably within the on-highway truck industry
6 Sigma Black Belt experience is highly desired
Previous on-highway truck experience is highly desired
