Position Summary

This position will be part of a production team that develops a weekly flyer for a retail client. All production efforts are coordinated with the client to maintain the integrity of the brand. The Production Artist will be a self-motivated team player with keen attention to detail and stellar technical skills in a deadline-driven environment. They will ensure all deliverables maintain file integrity and meet print requirements.

Responsibilities

Work is typically performed under minimal daily supervision, receiving guidance from manager/supervisor about the work that needs to be completed. Able to exercise high level of discretion and latitude in completing tasks.

Construct and build complex multi-layered documents using InDesign (MAC).

Ability to build and work with fonts, styles and libraries in InDesign.

Review materials to ensure finished products are in line with company Brand and desired look and feel.

Must be able to efficiently and accurately load copy, images, logos and other content from multiple sources into final files.

Ability to troubleshoot missing fonts and links independently.

Review and follow annotations received from soft proofing tools and correctly make edits to files. In addition, the person will be required to check dimensions, spacing and layout position for accuracy.

Interacts with customers, suppliers, vendors and division personnel regarding quality and production issues.

Work with team members to resolve any issues with the files.

Ability to learn internal software and procedures quickly. Knowledge of file transfer systems is a must.

Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.

Ability to perform advanced quality assurance and confirm file accuracy.

Bachelor degree in Graphic Design or a related field or role with 3-5 years of relevant work experience in InDesign, PhotoShop, and Illustrator. In-depth knowledge of CS is a must.

A minimum of three years’ page construction experience

The ability to smoothly adjust to changing priorities and modified deadlines.

An understanding of color management, prepress and printing is desired.

Demonstrate ability to solve complex problems by analyzing variables and applying appropriate solutions learned through experience and proficiency in understanding the job.

Must be able to recognize anomalies within critical situations and respond appropriately.

Must be able to communicate and interact with a variety of internal/external customers and/or co-workers at level of detail required to resolve issues of moderate complexity.

Cross Platform (MAC and PC) skills.

MS Office application skills.

Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.

Must be able to proactively listen to others to understand issues and situations.

Must be able to clearly articulate business needs to both internal and external customers.

Actively seeks out best practices to promote efficiency in day-to-day operations.

Keeps a positive attitude when dealing with heated situations to help diffuse the crisis in an expedient, professional manner.
