Work within a high throughput production-based DNA synthesis and sequencing team to produce synthetic DNA and verify sequence quality.
Carry out laboratory activities in support of production schedules and objectives as directed by senior staff.
Operate at a consistent and exemplary level of efficiency, producing high quality and accurate results with a customer driven focus.
Safely operate laboratory equipment in accordance with established practices.
Perform routine equipment preventative maintenance and minor repairs as required.
Work with semi-automated and/or automated equipment.
Promote and be responsible for laboratory safety and housekeeping.
Obtain and stock laboratory supplies as directed; promote and be responsible for inventory accuracy.
Become proficient in applicable computer software programs as needed.
Simultaneously perform multiple tasks as required.
Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal/external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the companyâ€™s policies and practices.
Carries out duties in compliance with established business policies.
Maintain documentation and records in an accurate, timely and thorough manner.
Perform basic DNA sequencing reactions.
Operate various basic laboratory automation instruments.
Perform routine maintenance of laboratory instruments.
Coordinate production activities with teammates and other scientists.
Closely follow established standard operating procedures.
Maintain records of laboratory activities and notebooks in a professional, accurate manner. Maintain records as per Company, QSR, GMP and ISO guidelines.
Understands and is aware of the quality consequences which may occur from the improper performance of their specific job.
Interfaces with scientific team members in order to understand new methods.
BA/BS in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biological Sciences or related discipline.
One to five years of experience utilizing or manufacturing molecular biology tools in an industrial (Biotech/Pharma/Medical Device) or academic work environment.
Ability to work collaboratively & communicatively in a team environment.
Hands-on experience within high-throughput genomic pipelines a plus.
Experience operating automated laboratory equipment such as QPix, Biomek, ABI 3730 XL DNA Sequencer and Next-Gen sequencing a plus
Good understanding of molecular biology techniques gained through a combination of education and experience.
Hands on training in the operation of applicable laboratory equipment and techniques.
Ability to follow detailed instructions, maintain accurate records and notes, and the ability to carry out assignments in a thorough, conscientious fashion.
Conscious of safety requirements and applicable material handling methods including universal precautions for handling potentially bio-hazardous materials.
Working knowledgeable of federal and other regulations a plus, e.g. QSRâ€™s, ISO, ISO 13485, CMDR.
Demonstrate multi-tasking, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge and ability to use MS Office and other manufacturing systems.
Familiar with computational biology tools (BLAST, Vector NTI) a plus.
