Production Manager - Canton, Mississippi

Manages a manufacturing total production operation on a designated shift, coordinating activities between subordinate managers and other departments.
Controls departmental costs, scrap and purchased supplies, quality of products and maintains uptime targets.
Coordinates the development and planning of new programs and events.
Responsible for goals and objectives as they pertain to quality, cost, delivery and safety.
Maintains a positive employee relations environment. Contributes to building brand value and achieving enduring profitable growth.
Responsibilities (to include, but not limited to):
Establishes and monitors quality performance to cost budgets. Takes proper steps to identify cost reduction opportunities. Assists production and engineering departments to investigate and resolve in-plant quality issues. Addresses quality issues related to non-conforming product.
Participates in early engineering and production trials to identify production issues and ensure the ease of manufacturability.
Administers shop floor management systems to insure compliance and increase customer satisfaction.
Prepares manpower reports on weekly basis. Works with industrial engineering to develop appropriate staffing levels and adjust for rebalances and attrition.
Monitors safety and facilitates action to improve safety performance of workforce. Proactively identifies and addresses safety concerns before an accident occurs.
Plans for new projects and processes based on information from engineering and management. Contacts other workgroups for assistance and support to establish content and timing of the changes.
Non-exempt to entry-level exempt employees and contractors. Supervises and provides leadership, coaching, guidance, training and staff development; interviews and selects unit employees; plans and evaluates employee performance; recommends merit increases, transfers and promotions; counsels and disciplines employees as necessary; recommends termination when appropriate; and monitors time and attendance of subordinates.
Bachelors degree in engineering; will consider related college/technical course work and in-house training.
6-10 years of directly related/relevant experience (Ideally, Trim & Chassis Engineering, but not required)
2+ years of supervisory experience, with a proven record of leadership, coaching, training and staff development
Working knowledge of computer software (MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook) and other non-standard databases or mainframe applications for generating non-standard, creative documents.
