Hands-on oversight/direct supervision of second-shift plant operations, supervisors and hourly employees
Daily audits of production performance by checking with staff, ensuring quality of work and schedule compliance
Responsible for coaching and training of production personnel, including holding group meetings to communicate methods and standards
Determine ways to increase production while adhering to safety standards
Suggest packaging methods that will increase product quality and/or handling
Proactively work with QA Inspectors to ensure adherence to Quality and USDA standards
Proactively present issues with proposed solutions
Train, coach, write-up and discipline up to and including termination for cause
Drives and monitors safety performance, taking appropriate action to commend safe work practices and resolve all safety infractions as they occur
Supervise meat production/preparation and packaging, adhering to the production schedule and changes as needed
Perform as the interface between the Plant Managers and non-exempt employees
Enforce all Company policies and procedures to protect all employees and company property including tools, equipment, raw materials and finished products
Interact with sales to ensure production quality
Plan and organize the work and the crew for the shift’s activities
Any and all other duties as assigned
Qualifications
CAPABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE
3-10 years of shift management experience (meat industry preferred -- beef and pork boning/portion control)
Ability to prioritize and multi-task, organize own workload to maintain high quality and output while achieving set deadlines and targets.
Sense of urgency, pushing self and others for results
Excellent analytical, organizational and problem solving skills
Strong supervisory, interpersonal and communication skills
Strong attention to detail
Ability to positively function within an atmosphere of collaboration and accountability
Demonstrate personal resiliency in actions
Ability to perform effectively within ambiguous situations
Supervisory experience
Experience in goal-oriented production environment
PC proficiency
Bilingual (Spanish-English) skills
Training in managerial methods
Drives for accountability and achieves results
USDA, HACCP and OSHA compliance experience
