Responsible for the direct technical supervision of production engineers and indirect responsibility for all field production operations in North Dakota, Montana, and Wyoming. Total staff of 6+ in the office and 60+ in the field managing production close to 20,000 BOEPD. Responsible for achieving top quartile EHS performance and for making sound business decisions with a focus on maximizing production and profitability of oil and gas properties. Additional responsibilities include making recommendations on hiring, promotions or status changes of personnel. Plans and implements internal training programs. Possesses in-depth knowledge of company/industry products.
This position will report directly to the Rockies Senior Vice President/Regional Manager.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
Generates reserves-quality LOE & shrink estimates and annual budget targets

Oversee Production schedule and ensure scheduled dates are met

Ensure that all departments are staying within budget

Check master schedules and work orders, establish priorities and changes to meet business requirements/goals, work order specifications and availability of workers, materials and equipment

Evaluate production and expense performance with both production foreman and management

Analyze producing properties for profitability and recommend operational improvements

Optimize production from new wells, determining if intervention is needed, when and how it should be performed, and by designing and installing the initial artificial lift application

Work closely with reservoir engineers and geologists to maximize the value of assigned assets

Monitor daily production volumes for discrepancies and opportunities

Participate with the facilities engineers and operations staff in the design of production facilities for each well

Provide detailed input to well operations staff on all aspects of well completion design

Ensure facilities and infrastructure are ready and new wells are connected in a timely manner to maximize revenue

Prepare written intervention procedures and supervising execution

Implement projects and studies. Gather data to help reservoir engineering, geology and geophysical disciplines understand the resource

Monitor competitor activity and well performance to obtain competitive advantage and manage Non-Op capital commitments

Remain abreast on environmental, health and safety regulations and ensure these are followed

On call support, including nights and weekends may be required for field locations

Conduct business with the highest ethical standards; demonstrate decision-making skills that ensure the safety of all persons associated with SM facilities

Other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
B.S. degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering is required

Minimum of 10 years of applicable production engineering experience

Must have oil and gas production engineering experience, preferably in a cold weather climate, preferably in the Rockies

Experience producing horizontal wells on rod pump

Prior supervisory experience a plus

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Proficient level of skill in Microsoft Office

Excel spreadsheet based analysis, Wellview and other commonly used industry software

Comprehensive understanding of general completions procedures and production operations

Comprehensive knowledge of and experience with different stimulation techniques and artificial lift methods

Ability to identify and meet operational KPI’s and efficiency metrics

Demonstrates technical expertise

Highly skilled in engineering economic evaluations

Strong knowledge of environmental, health and safety regulations

Experience with conventional oil and gas reservoirs and unconventional resource plays, secondary and EOR processes

Advanced project management skills and the ability to advance multiple projects simultaneously; takes a multi-disciplinary approach to projects

Ability to lead and collaborate effectively in a team environment and manage/mentor engineers, technicians and contractors

Excellent communication skills including: written, verbal and formal presentation

Applies specialized knowledge in the completion of projects

Actively transfer knowledge to colleagues and management

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Periodic field visits
