Supervises and coordinates activities of production employees engaged in operating a variety of equipment to produce products by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Analyzes work orders to estimate employee hours and create equipment operating schedules that meet both internal and external needs.
Computes amounts of stock and supplies required for operations, based on production schedules, and requisitions materials from storage area.
Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders for employees, and assigns duties as necessary.
Plans flow of materials through department and develops physical layout of equipment according to work orders.
Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met.
Inspects and measures parts and products to verify conformance to specifications.
Directs employees in adjusting machines and equipment to address products which fail to meet standards.
Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists employees in solving work problems.
Maintains time and production records.
Develops capital equipment justifications for equipment, tools and process technology to improve quality, cost, and cycle times.
Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials.
Supervisory Responsibilities Manages a total of 25 – 50 production employees in the Plant. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these employees during his/her. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in a related field preferred, plus 3-5 years experience in a food production environment
Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills General computer knowledge and experience working within word processing and spreadsheets. Ability to learn and use new applications as necessary.
