DuPont Pioneer is seeking a Production Technician to perform any or all of the tasks associated with general plant operations and field activities. Duties/Responsibilities Responsibilities for this position cover multiple cropping seasons (currently 3) per annual cycle. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to supervising/leading, coordinating or performing field and plant activities. Required to be skilled in all activities of workers being supervised. This may include scheduling of work, transportation of personnel and problem solving. Develop and maintain good communication and rapport with field and plant personnel, employees from other Pioneer plants or departments, growers, vendors, etc. Participate in location meetings. Serve on location teams as assigned. Attend safety meetings and complete required safety training. Manage risks during performance of job duties. Recommend and implement safety and operational improvements. Train for cross-functional job duties. Stay abreast of technology and agronomic practices and methods. Establish and pursue development goals.

Field and Plant activities may include but are not limited to operating planting equipment with RTK and Variable Rate capabilities, precision application of fertilizer and crop protection products via planting equipment, post planting drip irrigation setup, field data collection (GPS coordinates, silk and pollen shed, tissue samples, etc.), data input/reporting, crop destruct, pest eradication activities (fence erection, netting, etc.) Records all necessary field data as assigned by Agronomist. Ensures timely and proper execution of field activities that include rouging and detasseling. Meet demands in timely fashion while maintaining a safe work environment. Handle a high volume of complex products. Compliance with ISO Work Instructions and Quality Plan requirements. Complete and maintain appropriate records, documents, or reports (e.g. ISO9000, field records, etc.). Education and Experience Associate degree and 3-5 years on-the-job or related agriculture experience or equivalent amounts of education and experience required. Bachelor’s degree desired. Some positions may require a Commercial Drivers License (CDL). May be required to obtain a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) in the future. Supervisory experience desired. Competencies Knowledge of production agriculture and production plant operations desired. Knowledge of field equipment and techniques (personnel carriers, corn planters, tractors, etc.) desired. Priority management required. Ability to adjust quickly to changing conditions and anticipate needs. Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to provide work instructions training and supervise/coach others. Problem solving capabilities. Conflict management skills. Ability to make independent decisions. Intermediate level of PC skills desired. Willingness to work in a variety of areas (field, plant, and warehouse) required. Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles such as 5S, Continuous Improvement and Standardized Work are a plus.

Ability to climb and/or work in elevated areas; standing and sitting for extended periods. Position involves repetitive motion and/or repetitive lifting up to 60 lbs. Willingness to work both outdoors and indoors in hot, cold, wet and dry conditions. Overtime hours including weekend, second and third shift work required during seasonal peaks. Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle required. Positions requiring a CDL are subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements.
