Position Overview :
The Professional Nurse at TSTC will be responsible for providing direct care in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Texas Board of Nursing. Strong clinical judgment, a positive and compassionate attitude, dependability, and the capacity for independent decision making are expected.

Essential Function :
Daily responsibilities include:
Receive students in professional manner and assist them to determine, where possible further medical needs for the individual, and take appropriate action.

Arrange, when requested, appointments with other medical professional or agencies for students and arrange transportation when necessary.

Contact individuals in need of immediate medical attention and perform those activities of a medical nature for which training has been received and is appropriate.

Keep daily records on contacts including recommendations and action taken

Focused physical assessments

Provision of over-the-counter medications

Basic wound care

Administration of vaccinations

coordination of follow up care as needed

one-on-one education to students and staff on topics pertaining to health and wellness

Periodic involvement with health-and-wellness-related campus activities is required

Coordinate with other departments on campus as applicable to render aid in the event of illness or an emergency

Position may periodically require you to work a flexible schedule

Minimum Qualifications :
Two years current work experience in Health Care Services.

Must have a current, unrestricted license to practice nursing as an LVN in the state of Texas. Registered Nursing Degree preferred.

Annual Salary :
$34,000 – DOE depending on credentials and experience.
