Provide leadership and vision in the department and the School of Education for high quality undergraduate and graduate special education teacher preparation programs; facilitate curriculum and assessment development; model exemplary undergraduate and graduate teaching including effective use of technology; facilitate school based development for in-service teachers to promote excellence in the application of theory to practice in special education; facilitate the advancement of productive school partnerships with exemplar programs in special education; work collaboratively with school leaders, faculty, parents and professional organizations to monitor and develop policies governing and framing special education on local, state, national and international levels; seek external funding to support the work of the department relating to the field of special education; develop scholarly publications; teach at least one graduate or undergraduate course per semester; work with faculty and Dean to develop an agenda for public forums and colloquia focused on issues of relevance to special education; provide consultancy support for school and community partners.

Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Special Education or a related field with a research emphasis in the area of special education; evidence of national or international prominence and leadership in the field of special education reflected by professional activities, leadership positions, practice innovations, publications, grants, and awards; a record of contributions to the knowledge and practice of education for individuals with disabilities. Currently hold the rank of Full Professor or Associate Professor with credentials sufficient to merit the recommendation of the faculty for the rank of full professor at SUNY Buffalo State.

Preferred Qualifications:
Strong interpersonal skills including written and oral communication skills; a history of obtaining external funding.
