Position Description:
The Department of Mathematics at The University of Chicago invites applications for the position of Professor of Mathematics. The successful applicant must have a doctoral degree in mathematics or a related field, be several years beyond the Ph.D, and have an outstanding research record. The successful applicant will be expected to conduct research in the area of geometric topology with expertise in Kleinian groups, foliations, dynamics, stable commutator length and bounded cohomology. The applicant will be expected to submit findings for publication, attend and present at various national and international conferences and professional meetings. Applicant will also be responsible for conducting graduate and undergraduate courses in Mathematics. Specifically, duties will include course preparation, review and grading of assignments, and academic advising of individual students as requested. Applicant will also serve on departmental committees and contribute to departmental administrative affairs, as directed by the Chair.
