Position: Norfolk State University plans to fill a tenure-track position in the Department of Fine Arts.
Responsibilities: Teach classes and perform other duties as assigned by Chair.
Minimum Qualifications
Seeking an individual with drive,entrepreneurial ambition and talent to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the following areas: sculpture, printmaking, painting, drawing,
photography, new media, ceramics, and 3-D design (or some combination of these) in a growing department. Applicants must hold an M. F. A degree in one of the areas listed above. Should be able to help in the maintenance of the sculpture, printmaking, or ceramics lab and other computer equipment, and be well-versed in both PC and Mac platforms. The development of new undergraduate and
graduate course offerings in these areas are expected.
Candidate must be able to communicate well to a diverse population of students with various levels of preparation and expertise. Candidate should have demonstrated administrative capabilities, enough to serve as department chair. Candidate must demonstrate experience with community Art projects involving students, successful grantsmanship, and ability to collaborate across the disciplines, especially in STEM-H disciplines.
Additionally, she/he must be able to write effectively, participate in departmental and university- wide Committees, and assist in the department's curriculum development. The candidate must evidence continuing professional engagement in the discipline through membership in national associations. She/he will also maintain a portfolio of current work. International and National and Local competitive public Art experience will be a plus.
