The Program Assistant is a full-time, classified position in the Aviation Office at South Seattle Community College (SSCC). This position provides complex clerical support to the Aviation Department’s Grant Manager. The Program Assistant organizes and performs work related to grant and contract activities and performs work related to the routine functions of the Aviation Hangar main office. Under general supervision, this position will be responsible for assisting with: office coverage, outreach efforts, creating reports, students tracking, fiscal duties, program and classroom support and support for curricula development projects. Hours & Days: Monday through Friday 10:00 am until 6:30 pm, with occasional nights and weekends required. Some flexibility for scheduled hours is possible. This is a grant funded position and is expected to continue through September 30, 2014. Annual continuation of this position is contingent on special funding . Given the financial challenges the State of Washington has been facing, employees currently in, or hired into, classified positions making $2500/month or more, represented by the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE) will take a one year 3% cut in salary effective July 1, 2012 through June 29, 2013. Rate posted above represents the 3% reduction.

Essential Functions:
Conduct Marketing and Outreach communications to organizations and businesses to coordinate activities and schedules.
Maintain and monitor budgets and inform supervisor of status.
Use spreadsheet and data-based software to develop and maintain records.
Use graphic software and make recommendations regarding appropriate display of graphic information.
Compose correspondence related to program policies, procedures, and operations, edit materials for accuracy, appearance, readability and style. Perform other related essential duties as required.
Develop and maintain paper and electronic student record-keeping systems and database files. Data Base Management
Perform complex word processing tasks such as merging and sorting, integrating text with graphics, use graphics and spreadsheet software
Organize, schedule and take minutes at Department meetings.
Provide support for classroom and various curricula projects.

Required Education, Experience & Abilities:
Associate's degree.
Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience or equivalent education/experience.
Highly skilled in using Microsoft Office software (Excel, Access, Word, Outlook, Powerpoint, Publisher, etc) and Graphics.
Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with culturally diverse populations, to work with the public, students, faculty and staff in a friendly and courteous manner and to maintain composure in a busy office setting.
Demonstrated experience maintaining files.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree.
Knowledge of FQUERY and Student Management System (SMS).
Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong customer service skills; and time management skills.
Web content management or Learning Management Systems (Facebook account, Twitter or experience taking an online class).
