POSITION SUMMARY

Performs a wide variety of duties to direct, and coordinate customer service functions, answer telephone, typing, filing, create new client files, schedule appointments, order office supplies, coordinate travel arrangements, locking and unlocking center. Greet Elders as they arrive for Elder luncheon and activities. Greet clients and notify the appropriate staff member when clients arrive for their appointment. Program Assistant is responsible for collecting monies and maintaining the receivable accounts and reconciling daily cash sheet.

QUALIFICATIONS
(Consideration may be given for equivalent knowledge, skills, abilities, education, and experience)

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
Program Assistant and/or experience working at an Elders Center preferred
Ability to run a cash register and follow close out procedures
Experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook and other computerized information systems
Current First Aid and CPR Cards, or required to obtain within ninety days of hire
Willingness to learn the language, culture and history of the Dena'ina people
Ability to lift program materials weighing up to 30 pounds
Knowledge and experience working with Alaska Native/American Indian people preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Answer/forward incoming calls
Keep appointment calendar for program and clients
Input daily tallies into the proper spread sheets
Responsible for inventory and ordering of office supplies
Process distribute incoming faxes mail
Work closely with the Elders Program Manager as to the scheduling, and provide clerical support as needed
Keep copier in working order and request repairs as needed
Keep the front counters clean
Water and care for all plants
Participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings with Elders Program Manager and staff
Promote good relations with staff and community agencies
Track borrowed supplies and equipment
Performs other duties as assigned
