Walla Walla Community College invites applications to fulfill the role of Program Assistant (107M) for the Worker Retraining Program on the Walla Walla campus located in Walla Walla, Washington. General Responsibilities The Program Assistant is responsible for maintaining worker retraining student files and Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (WSBCTC) supporting program documentation. Typical activities include 1) collection of student eligiility documentation; 2) verification of students' training program, intent and tracking codes; 3) monitoring program enrollment and 4) tracking financial and completion aid awards. Essential Functions · Review student files to confirm program eligibility. · Process related student applications and aid request forms. · Provide ongoing review of WRT student codes and recommend changes as required. · Prepare and submit WRT enrollment projections. · File and review WRT candidate eligibility documentation. · Maintain effective communication with business services, financial aid, admissions and related external workforce partners, i.e. WorkSource. · Submit time and effort reports as required by funding source.

Competencies · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. · Ability to manage time effectively and work independently. · Possess excellent keyboarding skills and working knowledge of database management and Microsoft Office programs. · Ability to develop innovative ideas that provide solutions to all types of workplace challenges. · Ability to produce accurate and timely reports. · Ability to recognize the value of cultural, ethnic, gender and other individual differences in people. · Ability to make effective and timely decisions. · Knowledge of post secondary education workforce programs. Qualifications
High school graduation or equivalent required; Associate’s degree desired AND two years of relevant full-time experience including keyboarding skills, database programs and Microsoft Office applications. Equivalent education/experience may substitute at the discretion of the College

Conditions/Terms of Employment:
Working Conditions This position works 40 hours per week Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. in an indoor office setting, sitting at a desk or computer station, throughout the 8-hour shift. Generally, no weekend or evening hours anticipated. Travel would be minimal. Persons hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of lawful authorization to work in the United States within three (3) days of employment, and successfully complete a probationary period. Candidate may be subject to a criminal history background check as a condition of employment. This position is in a bargaining unit for which WPEA Higher Ed is the exclusive representative. As a condition of employment, employees must either become members of the Union and pay membership dues or, as non-members pay a fee in accordance with the contract provisions.
