The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is one of the nation's most effective environmental action organizations. Position Summary :
NRDC seeks a Program Assistant to work in its SF Office to provide administrative support to the Oceans Program. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and organized individual who can successfully address the administrative needs of this program.
Assisting with preparation and proofing of comment letters, powerpoints and other documents.
Processing expense reimbursements for Oceans team in the SF office and tracking grant expenditures.
Making travel arrangements.
Scheduling meetings/calls w/ individuals both within and outside of the organization.
Keeping financial records and copies of consultant contracts & new vendor forms.
Legal filing of court documents.
Providing research for Oceans projects: compiling weekly ocean news updates and identifying news relevant to core program work of the team.
Serving as primary contact point in the Oceans Program for other NRDC teams and general public inquiry about ocean issues on the west coast.
Helping keep projects, financial filings and other activities on track.
General administrative tasks (e.g. photocopying, scanning, printing, filing, software assistance, etc).
Must be able to work independently, be a self-starter, prioritize competing projects, and perform well under deadlines.
Demonstrated interest in environmental issues.
At least one year of previous administrative/support experience preferred.
Strong internet research skills.
Expertise in MS Outlook & Word are essential. Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint strongly desired.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Very strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, willingness to help other assistants, good sense of humor.
Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills, and be detail oriented.
Must excel at working in a fast-paced environment, with demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and anticipate support needs.
