The Creative Capital | Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant Program was founded in 2006 to support writing on contemporary visual art through awards issued directly to individual authors in five categories: articles, blogs, books, new and alternative media, and short-form writing.

Approximately 150 grants, totaling close to $4 million, have been awarded to date. Designed to encourage and reward writing about contemporary art that is rigorous, passionate, eloquent, and precise, as well as to create a broader audience for arts writing, the Arts Writers Grant Program aims to strengthen the field as a whole and to ensure that critical writing remains a valued mode of engaging the visual arts.

The Arts Writers Grant Program is seeking a part-time Program Associate responsible for supporting the Director in all aspects of the program’s grant making. Job responsibilities will include assisting with the application review process; maintaining sensitive correspondence with grantees and applicants; writing and editing board reports and press releases; organizing program events; and managing social media.

Candidates should be knowledgeable about contemporary art and art writing, and will need to have excellent research, writing, and communication skills. Attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills are a must. Copy-editing and proofreading experience are highly valued.

Primary responsibilities include:

-Administrative support for the Director
-Proofreading and editing written material
-Correspondence with applicants, grantees, and jurors
-Researching arts writing to assist with application evaluation process
-Assisting in organizing panels and writing workshops
-Social media management, with a focus on Twitter
-General office support, including data entry


-B.A. or B.F.A. required; M.A. or M.F.A. preferred
-Breadth of knowledge about contemporary art and arts writing, across disciplines
-Excellent research, writing, and communication skills
-Ability to concisely synthesize ideas in writing
-Proficiency with social media, especially Twitter
-Familiarity with Mac computers, Microsoft Word and Excel, Google Docs, and Filemaker Pro

This is a part-time position, requiring approximately 16 hours a week.
