This position manages the Event Management Office, Custodial Department and Hotel Memorial Union. Works directly with departmental supervisors and the Event Management Office staff to coordinate their efforts to support the meetings, events and needs of Memorial Union customers and tenants. Develops and manages budgets for the Event Management Office/General Services, Hotel Memorial Union and Custodial Department. Provides on-site support for large/major events and conferences. Coordinates marketing efforts for the Memorial Union Hotel and Meeting Rooms. Participates in the Event Authorization Committee process for events and activities sponsored by over 800 recognized student organizations.
The successful candidate will have strong oral and written communication skills, the ability to work flexible hours, and the ability to work with a diverse group of people. Will possess the ability to work through crisis or conflict situations by exercising interpersonal skills and enlisting other personnel and resources as appropriate.
Bachelor's degree and 4 years of related experience OR Master's degree and 2 years of related experience OR a combination of education and related experience totaling 8 years. Experience must be at a comparable level and directly related to the duties of this position and must include conference or event planning or hospitality management.
Experience that demonstrates the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and negotiate and manage conference & facility units.
Experience with budget responsibility.
Experience managing in a higher education setting with year-round conference and meeting programs.
Experience with Event Management System software.
Minimum $44,800; commensurate with qualifications
