Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, licensed to practice in the state of CT (required). Computer literacy and experience with technology as a teaching tool desired. A demonstrated understanding of the mission of the comprehensive community college and its diverse student population is essential.

Under the direction of the Science Department Chairperson, the Assistant Professor/Program Coordinator will teach Veterinary Science with special emphasis on large and small animal surgery courses that require the supervision and services of a licensed Veterinarian. The Incumbent will serve as the Academic Advisor for enrolled students and perform additional responsibilities as required of all faculty members. In addition, perform administrative duties such as, but not limited to, establishing and maintaining field work and laboratory sites; recommending the hiring of, and supervising, part-time faculty in the program; leading efforts to achieve program accreditation by the American Veterinary Medical Association-Committee On Veterinary Technician Education & Activities; and acting as academic and contractual liaison between the College and local Veterinary hospitals, where clinically-based lab instruction will occur. The successful candidate must have demonstrated an interest in, and an aptitude for, teaching the full range of courses from the introductory through the advanced level. S/he must be committed to adopting innovative instructional approaches along with current instructional techniques; integrating instructional technology. In addition to an assigned teaching schedule, the Coordinator is responsible course development, revising and evaluation curricula, service on college committees and other college and community services responsibilities related to a full-time faculty position. The incumbent is expected to represent the College in a positive manner and work as a team player with colleagues in the department. Evening and weekend hours may be required.
