The program will offer students UCLA Extension certificates and career counseling designed specifically for those transitioning to new careers or seeking to remain competitive in today’s job market. With a focus on practical, work-related knowledge, the fully online courses will allow students to complete certificate programs in just one year with far more robust interaction than many modern day classrooms.
Empowered Career’s headquarters is located in Campbell, CA with the location in Saint Louis Park, MN, supporting the operations team and functions.
As a key member of the Empowered Team, the Program Counselor will serve as the main point of contact and representative of the Empowered brand. Through interactions via phone, email, chat and social media, the Program Counselor will establish and build the initial relationship with prospective students, provide guidance in determining the best solution, and qualify and support all aspects of the enrollment process. Additionally, the Program Counselor will maintain the student relationship beyond enrollment and work closely with Career Services to successfully support students for graduation and the next phase of their careers. As needed, the Program Counselor will aid in continually improving the experience of the student at all phases.
This position reports to Senior Manager of Student Experience and is located in Saint Louis Park, MN. Relocation costs are not included in this position.
Essential duties & responsibilities:
Guide and qualify prospective students by understanding their needs and motivation while helping to identify the best educational solution.
Assist prospective students in exploring and discussing both career and UCLA Certificate program choices.
Ability to problem solve and aid prospective students in reviewing their educational and financial options while serving as a guide and an advocate.
Acquire knowledge and insight of relevant industry and career information, UCLA certificate programs, industry certification exams, credentials and requirements, and career field trends.
Provide excellent service and support to prospective and current students through to graduation.
Ability to perform consistently to meet established and expected individual and team performance targets.
Technical knowledge and use of Customer Relationship / Contact Management systems as well as related office products.
Network and develop professional relationships to generate personally developed inquiries.
Partnership and collaboration with supporting team members, such as Career Counselors, Academic Advisors and Marketing, to continuously improve process and student experience.
Adherence to a high level of ethics and integrity.
Completion of additional projects and duties as assigned to support the mission of Empowered Careers.
Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree a plus)
Previous admissions/enrollment experience strongly preferred (minimum 2+ years)
Prior experience supporting students/customers in a complex decision
Outstanding written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to adapt and successfully navigate a fast-paced, change-rich environment
Self-starter with the capacity to work within a team and be a team-player
