The Department of Health Sciences is seeking an energetic leader with progressive ideas, strong interpersonal skills, an appreciation for organization and an enthusiastic interest in working closely with other faculty members in the Master of Physician Assistant Studies program in the role of the Program Director. The Program Director is responsible for the daily oversight and management of the Master of Physician Assistant Studies Program including, but not limited to, coordination and direction of the ARC-PA accredited program, maintenance of all aspects of the program required for successful continued accreditation, curriculum planning and development including oversight of the academic and clinical aspects of the program, coordination of duties of faculty within the program, program assessment, student recruitment and student advising. The Program Director is expected to teach courses within the academic curriculum and remain active in scholarship and service activities consistent with departmental expectations.
Required qualifications include current NCCPA certification, master's degree, clinical experience as a Physician Assistant, teaching experience and experience with PA education or a physician holding a current licensure as an allopathic or osteopathic physician in the Commonwealth of Virginia, current certification by an ABMS or AOA-approved specialty board and teaching experience and experience with PA education.
Preferred qualifications include previous experience as a PA program faculty member, prior leadership experience, experience with curriculum/program development, involvement with state and national associations and an earned doctorate degree.
