Education Pioneers seeks a highly-organized, collaborative, and talented individual to manage the planning and implementation of our Graduate School Fellowship and Analyst Fellowship. This role focuses on executing strategies which directly align to and support our long-term outcomes of “increasing top talent in education” and “preparing leaders to lead.” Reporting to the Director, NYC Metro Area, the Program Manager will work closely with the NYC Metro Area site team and will serve as the primary agent to select and onboard Graduate School and Analyst Fellows and to facilitate a powerful and transformational experience for the local cohort in New Jersey. The Program Manager, New Jersey, will interact with Education Pioneers team members across the country, as well as Fellowship candidates, current Fellows, and Partner organizations.

Primary Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of the Program Manager, New Jersey will include the following:
    Lead the successful growth and implementation of transformative Education Pioneers Fellowship programs in the Eastern Region (Newark, NJ)
    • Recruit a wide range of education reform organizations across New Jersey and expand existing partnerships with Newark Public Schools and New Jersey State Department of Education to host 30+ Fellows across our Fellowship programs (Graduate Student Fellowship, Yearlong Fellowship, Analyst Fellowship) in 2013
    • Match organizations with Fellows and support both Fellows and Partners throughout the placement process
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships and ongoing communication with Partners to ensure support and clarity throughout the summer Fellowship period
    • Effectively monitor and evaluate the success of the New Jersey cohort and the New York Metro Area Fellowship Programs as a whole
    • Represent Education Pioneers at events in the broader community to build our brand and presence in New Jersey
    Recruit, select, and place a diverse group of talented graduate students into the New Jersey Graduate School Fellowship and Analyst Fellowship Programs
    • Represent Education Pioneers at local recruiting events and generate excitement for our program among prospective applicants
    • Conduct in-depth interviews with applicants to assess their candidacy
    • Plan and execute Group Interview Days to evaluate candidates’ contributions to a collaborative environment
    • Work closely with the New York City Metro Area team to make final decisions regarding admissions into the Graduate School Fellowship and Analyst Fellowship
    Induct New Jersey Fellows into a network of impactful education leaders
    • Recruit and select a diverse group of talented candidates into Education Pioneers’ Fellowship programs (Graduate School Fellowship and Analyst Fellowship)
    • Contribute knowledge and expertise to inform the national vision, content, and resources for Fellowship programs
    • Adapt national program resources to address local context and incorporate local issues
    • Design and facilitate signature elements of the Fellowship experience, including all leadership development trainings, summer workshops, professional development seminars and networking events
    • Serve as a skilled coach, mentor and guide for Fellows, providing direct and targeted support regarding their Fellowship experience, ongoing professional development and long-term career planning
    • Assist with the design and facilitation of key program elements to support Fellows’ long-term career goals and welcome Fellows into our Alumni network
    Contribute to our local strategy to improve effectiveness of the education sector
    • Support the New York City Metro Area Director in implementing meaningful and relevant engagement opportunities for all New York City Metro Area Alumni
    • Work closely with the Executive Director of the New York City Metro Area to provide support around fundraising efforts in New Jersey, specifically in Newark, and oversee site visits as required
    • Engage New York City Metro Area-based Alumni to support the Graduate School Fellowship and Analyst Fellowship as Partners, speakers/panelists, and mentors to current Fellows

    Experience and Qualifications:

    • Graduate degree required

    • Three to five years of relevant professional experience including teaching, coaching/mentoring, professional development, content design, program design and management

    • Superb facilitation, networking, and presentation skills required
    • Strong knowledge of the current K-12 education reform landscape required, significant education reform experience in the New York and/or New Jersey preferred
    • Extensive skill in relationship building with team members and external partners

    • Experience successfully delivering a program in a fast-paced environment and facilitating discussion among diverse groups of adults

    • Ability to work in and across several communication platforms (online community, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter) and internal systems (Salesforce, Google Docs and Intranet).
